📥 Step 2: Download the Installer

The first command downloads the AWS CLI installer as a ZIP file.

curl "<https://awscli.amazonaws.com/awscli-exe-linux-x86_64.zip>" -o "awscliv2.zip"

👉 This command fetches the installer from AWS and saves it locally.

📦 Step 3: Unzip the Installer

Next, extract the downloaded file:

unzip awscliv2.zip

This will create a folder containing the installation files.

⚙️ Step 4: Run the Installer

Now install the AWS CLI using:

sudo ./aws/install
  • You will be prompted to enter your system password

  • The installation will then proceed automatically

✅ Step 5: Verify Installation

After installation, check that everything works:

aws --version

✔ Expected Output

aws-cli/2.x.x Python/3.x Linux ...

👉 If you see a version like this, the installation was successful.

🧠 Notes

  • If /usr/local/bin is in your system path, you can simply run:

    aws --version
  • Otherwise, you may need to run:

    /usr/local/bin/aws --version
